12 Fire Trucks Handle Fire in Cipinang Besar Utara

A total of 12 fire engines with 65 personnel, managed to overcome the fire that burned down three houses of residents in a densely populated settlement, Jalan Bekasi Timur 6 RT 03/11, Cipinang Besar Utara Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Monday (8/3) afternoon.

Abdul Wahid, Head of Operations for the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency, said the fire broke out while residents were inside. Thick smoke suddenly erupted from one of the houses, followed by flames. Residents attempted to extinguish the blaze but were unsuccessful.

The Head of Cipinang Besar Utara Urban Village, Andi Agung Yasser, said that currently the fire survivors are taking refuge in their relatives' houses not far from the location of the incident.
His party also prepared evacuation locations at the Sasana Krida and Karang Taruna (SKKT) Buildings if residents needed them.
"We have submitted a request for assistance to the Social Sub-agency, BPBD, Baznas Bazis and PMI of East Jakarta City, to ease the burden on residents affected by the fire," he admitted.
